Good luck

To conclude, there are many laptops in the market right now, and there will always be a laptop that will be perfect for you. Whether you are a student, own your own business or just like to browse and watch movies, a laptop can be the perfect asset to your home. Hopefully I have helped you with choosing what laptop you will need, with the right amount of ram, the right amount of gigabytes on your hard drive, and the right processor for your needs you will be sure to find the laptop that you love.

Macbooks

Over the years apple has established major credibility with its macbook pro and macbook air. Macbook has a laptop for all its customers, whether you wanted a longer battery life or portability, they have a laptop for you. For school a consumer would normally purchase the macbook air, because of how light and versatile it is. It would also allow you to get all your work done in time because of the longer battery life. Although, for the students that needed more powerful computers, the macbook pro would be the ideal choice because they have a smaller screen to make it slightly more portable. The reason I'm talking more about macbooks is because after viewing all my research I finally chose to buy a macbook. I bought the 13 inch macbook pro, which has 8 gigabits of ram, 750 gigabits hard drive and an Intel core i5 processor with a clock speed of 2.2 GHz, and I can tell you that its running amazingly.

Hard Drive

The whole point of a hard drive is storage and everything you save will be within the hard drive, not just documents, pictures, music, and videos. Your programs, your preferences, even your operating system are all stored on your computer’s hard drive. A very important thing about hard drives and ram is that once you've used all your ram, your computer uses its hard drive which is a lot slower than ram. Lets say you had a 1 GB laptop and you were watching a movie and working on multiple applications at the same time, you're laptop will start to use the hard drive because you've used up all of you're ram. What most people do if they have a laptop with a low hard drive, is that they will buy an external hard drive which is a huge USB which can store 1 TB of data or more. They will save every file, document, pictures, videos to their external hard drive and leave as much hard drive on the laptop for other uses. Recently they came up with a solid state drive which is going into all the new laptops. It is more expensive and it comes with less storage space, instead of a 1 TB hard drive you would get 256 GB SSD but it is more durable, more powerful and it helps your computer to not overheat.

RAM

Random access memory, known as ram is what makes your laptop fast and it is how you can browse through multiple tabs through the internet without your computer crashing. The higher a ram is, the more expensive and pricier your laptop will be because the higher your ram is, the more tabs and applications you can have open at the same time. The ram in your computer is something that isn't always there, it only comes when you need it. Lets say you are watching a movie off the internet using 200 megabits of ram, once you close that movie you will gain back those 200 megabytes. If you are a high intensity gamer, you would preferably go with a whopping 16 GB ram and if your a student and just want to do your day to day activities, all you will really need is a 4 GB ram.
As you can see in the picture above how much ram you really need depends on what you are doing. You can see that it doesn't exceed 4 GB which means you don't really need more than 4 GB unless you multitask from one to another without closing the previous application.

Processors

Processor in laptops are typically lower than the processors in large desktop computers, although nowadays some major laptop companies, such as apple, dell and Sony are using desktop processors to gain a performance edge. Generally a student won't need a very high processor such as Intel core i7 unless they will be encoding videos or running engineering applications. That being said, students will be looking at Intel core i5 or i3 because not only will it be more then enough to run their daily tasks but they will have a longer battery life. If you want an Intel core i7 laptop, it will normally be more expensive with a cost of short battery life therefor an i5 or i3 will have a longer battery life. All in all, unless your a gamer or an incredible computer decoder you shouldn't be looking at a high processor. Another thing to be looking for with processors is the clock speed which is the laptops ability to read and process instructions which are measured in gigahertz, such as 1,2 GHz or 2,2 GHz. The higher the clock speed, the more expensive your laptop will be and the shorter the battery life will be.

Choosing the right laptop

How many of you have been struggling to find the right lap top that best fits your needs? For these last two months I have been to over seven retail stores in desperate need to find a laptop that will satisfy my school needs, my gaming need, and as well as my work needs. The big dilemma I ran into was choosing whether to go for a macbook or windows laptop. Over two thirds of the sales representatives I’ve spoken to insisted I go with a macbook, but I wasn’t quite sure if I was ready to invest over a $1000. The differences between a macbook or windows laptop varies with the different models. A newer model can have more desirable specifications while an older model may lack certain favorable aspects of the product. In the next couple of days I will be explaining how to chose the right laptop based on processor, ram and memory, and whether it is a macbook or a regular laptop.
