Hard Drive

The whole point of a hard drive is storage and everything you save will be within the hard drive, not just documents, pictures, music, and videos. Your programs, your preferences, even your operating system are all stored on your computer’s hard drive. A very important thing about hard drives and ram is that once you've used all your ram, your computer uses its hard drive which is a lot slower than ram. Lets say you had a 1 GB laptop and you were watching a movie and working on multiple applications at the same time, you're laptop will start to use the hard drive because you've used up all of you're ram. What most people do if they have a laptop with a low hard drive, is that they will buy an external hard drive which is a huge USB which can store 1 TB of data or more.They will save every file, document, pictures, videos to their external hard drive and leave as much hard drive on the laptop for other uses. Recently they came up with a solid state drive which is going into all the new laptops. It is more expensive and it comes with less storage space, instead of a 1 TB hard drive you would get 256 GB SSD but it is more durable, more powerful and it helps your computer to not overheat.
